LOCAL STORIES, CONSIDERED

Choose the right 2026 Pumpkin Patch Train—daytime, Saturday Storytime or twilight—with the dates, prices, accessibility and booking details that matter.

Choose your train in 30 seconds

Choose daytime for the simplest outing, Saturday Storytime for a book-centered trip with young children, or Saturday twilight for lanterns, a campfire and s’mores. All three leave from Danbury Railway Museum at 120 White Street.

The organizer describes a roughly 20-minute round trip through the historic rail yard, followed by a pumpkin-patch stop with a pumpkin, cider and cookies. Pick the experience first; the schedule and booking details are below.

Choose daytime for the easiest plan

Daytime is the straightforward choice if you want flexibility and an earlier finish. Saturday trains leave at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m.; Sunday adds an 11 a.m. departure.

Leave time for the restored 1903 station, museum displays and operating model-train layouts. The visit is more than the 20-minute ride.

Choose Storytime for young readers

The Saturday 11 a.m. Storytime Express pairs the train ride with a children’s book. The museum says each child receives a copy of that week’s featured book to take home.

October 10: Daniel Tiger Visits a Pumpkin Patch. October 17: Thomas and the Runaway Pumpkins. October 24: Shiny Shapes: The Pumpkin Patch, recommended for ages 2–5. October 31: It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Choose twilight for atmosphere

The Saturday 6:30 p.m. train adds a lantern-lit patch, railroad campfire and individual prepackaged s’mores kits, with cider and cookies.

Choose it for the evening mood—not convenience. Dress for an October night, wear shoes suited to outdoor walking and consider whether a later return works for younger children.

Save the schedule

Saturdays: October 10, 17, 24 and 31. Storytime leaves at 11 a.m.; daytime trains run at noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m.; twilight leaves at 6:30 p.m.

Sundays: October 11, 18 and 25, plus November 1, with departures at 11 a.m., noon, 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Check the live ticket page before leaving; a published time does not mean seats remain available.

Check the price before you book

CTvisit lists daytime tickets at $20, twilight at $25, and Storytime at $23 for adults and $21 for children; children under two are listed as free. Confirm current prices and fees on the museum’s booking page before paying.

The museum says online reservations close six hours before departure. Walk-ins may be available but are not guaranteed. CTvisit lists the event as rain or shine, and the museum recommends advance reservations.

Check accessibility before paying

The museum says its station and rail yard are wheelchair accessible, but its historic trains are not. Confirm train boarding, stroller use, outdoor walking and any other needed accommodations before buying tickets.

Call the museum at 203-778-8337 if accessibility will determine whether the outing works for your group.

The short version

Pick daytime for simplicity, Storytime for a book-loving child or twilight for the atmosphere. Reserve ahead, dress for the weather and leave enough time to explore the museum.
